I had to replace my '06 Malibu Maxx SS because somebody thought it more fun ramming the back of my little blue car than it was to stop for a light.
My question is, since I replaced my SS with a 4 door Wrangler today, do I still get to hang out here on Oppo/Jalop? Does that answer change if I divulge the fact that it's a 6 speed manual?
Also, if I meet the guy that totaled my last car, do I get to be mean to him? Especially since my whole family was in the car when he hit me? (No injuries, thankfully).

What year Wrnagler? We have a 2011 Sahara Unlimited, but with 4 speed auto. I hate it.

What engine do you have?

It's a 2013, they were running an end of the quarter, get rid of last year's model sale today. It's a stripper, but less to go wrong, I guess.

It has the new for 2012 3 litre Pentastar motor, moar power, better mileage, especially with a stick, I hope. We'll see.

More powerful engine, less weight cause it's a stripper model, manual transmission, off road capable because jeep, that sounds like a good car to me.

Prepare for 14-20 mpg, uncomfortable journeys, and leaking roofs (both soft top and hard top). Oh, and shitty door seals.... just sayin'

Then I approve all around.
And it's a 3.6.

More money left for aftermarket stuff... more fun than some factory options, anyway. :D

Hell yeah, stick with us! How was the maxx ss?

It was a great mid size wagon, it hauled the kids around great, but with enough juice to make it fun. Brakes faded on long twisty downhill stuff at 8/10ths, but it was bone stock.

ah i had a 2 door 2008 manual and i loved it.

No you can't be mean to him, just find out were he lives and key his replacement car periodically, like each time it comes back from the body shop.
Seriously, ask yourself if you need a 4wheel drive or it just seems cool. My wife and I have quattros, so I can say all wheel drive is more hassles, but if you need it you need it. And jeep makes the "jeep" you can buy in north america.

I had that same feeling of "am I able to hang out" with the other Jalops. Thats one main reason why I never want to leave because if we were all (insert brand name here) alot of people are like minded. All of us come from different backgrounds pertaining to cars some know how to swap an engine know how F1 rules work. Not everybody is able to drive the top ten Jalop cars but having a mindset always works. Being a happy Jeep owner please dont forget the Jeep wave and with you having a 4 door JK youll catch some guys off. Most soccer moms dont know of the wave.

Door seals? You gotta take them sumbitches off, bro!

Will you take it offroad?

That's why we bought it, I can't afford to build a rock crawler and don't really want to, it's more of an escape with the family to camp vehicle. I just didn't want to be staring at a forest road somewhere, being afraid to go on it.

Jeeps don't care about what you can afford. They just care about how much you want those tires.. and that lift kit... and that pickup conversion

That's an awesome ride right there, where's the nearest bank I can rob?!!

Great ride, Sarge. I promise to wave, especially in the hills.
I agree with you on how welcoming this crew of jalops is, you don't really expect that in such a diverse group, both in the variety of car interest and geographically speaking.
I'll mention the wave to my wife as well, she'll get that squared away in no time.

It's weird, the times I need 4x4 can be less often than I'd like, but, when I need it, I NEED it...
I miss my 4000cs quattro...

I personally love Jeeps. But it takes a special person to appreciate them. I honestly don't know if you that kind of person. Many people who own Jeeps don't doubt owning a Jeep. Likk they say, "It's a Jeep Thing, You Wouldn't Understand."
The ride on the highway sucks. The gas mileage sucks. The engine is a bit weak. Depending on the year the tranny may not be great. But its a Jeep. Looks like you got the freedom hard top. They are cool. You get a convertible truck. The only thing comparable is a Murano CrossCabriolet. I think its a good truck, just maybe not for you.

I have no doubt that the off-road capabilities trump the obvious downsides of my new JK. I already put up with a much slower gas hog in my S-10, which is far less able off-road, and the kids hate to be hauled around in it.
I think this jeep is perfect for me.

It's a shame you can't get a 2WD high ground clearance vehicle with a standard and posi anymore, because that would be worth considering. Be if you really need the jeep, consider what the folks in the upper peninsula of Michigan do, which is to park the economy car in the fall, and drive the 4x4 all winter.
So perhaps getting the jeep, with the idea that you will get something more practical when the price is right. This would save a lot on gas, 4x4 maintenance, and make the jeep last a very long time.
Do you want another 4000Q ?

As I was looking around for this jeep, I did come across a couple 2wd jeeps, as unbelievable as that sounds. I don't know how many jeep sells per year...
The Audi I had was an 86 4000CS, with an inline 5 cyl motor...stick too, great car till someone turned left in front of me. Not lucky enough to own a Q.
![]() 09/29/2013 at 19:52 |

Keep in mind that a 2WD and posi, you can go about 90 percent of the places a 4WD can. You can always find cars like the 4000Q if you take the time to look for it, and buy off the internet with a pre-purchase inspection from a reputable garage. This is how I found my wife's car, and she loves it "because it just goes". Also if you really need a jeep, there is nothing as good at taking serious abuse on bad or no roads.

The big thing you MUST do is personalize it... no 2 Jeeps should be the same

I had been wondering the same thing. There doesn't seem to be too much of an offroading community on here, but no real hate for it either. I say that if you get a 4wd vehicle, you have to take it offroad. Which it seems like you are planning, so good for you! haha

No problemo, I need to ditch these steelies in the worst way anyhow!
